JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Eagles led for a majority of the game on Sunday afternoon before Mandan came from behind and scored two runs in the seventh to take down Post 14, 5-4.

The Eagles struggled to make routine defensive plays early on, committing seven errors in the first three innings. Despite that, Madan was only able to score two runs through the first three frames and was held hitless until the fifth inning. The Chiefs two runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead came off of four total hits, including a solo home run from Isaac Huettl.

Offensively for Jamestown, Post 14 scored two runs in the second behind an RBI single from Michael Mahoney and a fielding error to take a 2-1 lead. Jamestown would score a run in each the third and fourth innings, but the Eagles left Brooks Roaldson stranded at third in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.

Roaldson led the way for Jamestown at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four singles and a run driven in. Jacoby Nold picked up a hit in a 1-for-2 performance with two walks, and Mahoney finished the day 1-for-3.

Nold was lights out on the hill even with his defense struggling, going six innings and allowing four runs, only one was earned. Nold also struck out seven Mandan batters while walking none. Mason Lunzman was handed the loss in relief, giving up one run in his one inning of work.

The Post 14 Eagles now move on to the West Region tournament which takes place July 21-25 in Watford City to try and qualify for the state tournament. If Jamestown is able to advance in the West Region, the Eagles will play at home July 30-Aug 3 in the state tournament.
