JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Over the past year, people worldwide shared in the pandemic experience.

It changed our lives in such a way that the years 2020 and 2021 will live on in our collective psyche. Everything changed and humanity reacted in extraordinary ways.

In a way to recognize the loss, sorrow, hardship but also resilience, reconnection, humor and creativity experience, the Jamestown Arts Center has put together a new exhibit they call “Put A Mask On It.”

Arts Center Executive Director Mindi Schmitz says they have multiple artists who have work reflecting on “the mask”.

“Whatever your view, ‘the mask’ has touched our lives and will be forever part of our personal history,” the Arts Center states. “Many artists have created works that include mask imagery.”

The exhibition includes ceramics, photographs, mixed media, assemblages, drawings and paintings. Currently twelve artists are included in this group show.

Schmitz added they are also accepting donated masks that will be used in a future project.

The Arts Center will also be getting involved in Buffalo Days once again this year with their Mini Art Hunt.

The hunt begins Saturday, July 24th and ends when all 12 art works are found. Clues will be posted during Buffalo Days on the Arts Center’s Facebook page. Found pieces can be kept by those who find them.
