FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A couple from Valley City are the newest members of the North Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame. Erik and Susan Kringlie were honored during a ceremony at the Island Park Tennis Courts in Fargo on Saturday, July 10th.
Erik was a five-year letter winner at Valley City High School, a team captain and MVP during his senior year. He went on to play for Valley City State University, where he was a conference team and individual champion. Erick has coached the VCSU Club Tennis Team for several years, his teams qualified for the National Tournament in 2013 and 2019.
Susan was a three-sport varsity athlete in high school and won a state championship in doubles. Susan also won the prestigious Prince National High School All-America award her senior year. Erik and Susan and their children were awarded the USTA Northern Section Family of the Year Award back in 2016.
And legendary high school tennis coach Greg LaDouceur of Grand Forks is also in the North Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame Class of 2021. LaDouceur is one of the most decorated coaches in North Dakota High School Tennis history.
LaDouceur coached the Grand Forks Central High School boys tennis team to a championship in 1997.
In 2000, he became the head coach for Grand Forks Red River. His teams won 211 consecutive dual matches, and fifteen consecutive state championships from 2000 to 2014.
LaDouceur also became the Red River High School girls coach in 2012. His teams won the state championship five of the next six years.
Greg LaDouceur has compiled 21 North Dakota State Championships (16 for the boys and 5 for the girls)
583 dual and triangular team victories.
7 NDHSCA State Coach of the Year Awards.
NHSACA National Coach of the Year winner in 2012.
2015 National Federation High School Coaches Association Section Coach of the Year winner.
