JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With the ongoing drought in North Dakota, many counties and cities have implemented a ban on fireworks due to the high fire risks.
Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther says these bans were issued temporarily for this year.
These counties include Burleigh, Morton, Emmons, Dunn, Pierce, and Ward.
Chief Reuther says while this was discussed in Jamestown, there has been no temporary ban on fireworks for the city.
Chief Reuther says residents can take precautions by checking burn bans, restrictions, and the fire danger map before lighting off fireworks. He pointed out that you shouldn’t be afraid to call 911 if things get out of hand.
City municipal code states that the sale of fireworks within city limits begin July 1st through July 5th and may only be used or detonated on July 1st through July 5th between the hours of 12 PM (noon) to 11 PM with the exception of July 4th from 12 PM (noon) to 1 AM July 5th.
