Oakes Post 36 defeated Wishek 9-1 thanks to a complete game from right-handed pitcher Brady McKenna. The Oakes starter allowed two baserunners in the first inning, but after that he was virtually unhittable. McKenna allowed just one earned run, one walk and six hits while striking out seven batters.
As for Oakes’ bats, they got the majority of their runs in the second and third innings. Second baseman Conor Schall started the scoring barrage with an RBI-double followed by a successful suicide squeeze by shortstop Garret Meehl and an RBI single by third baseman Howie Neustel. Schall continued his great day with RBI-singles in the third and eighth innings and an RBI walk by left-fielder Steele Hansen.
Schall finished the day going 3-5 with 4 RBI and two runs and Neustel ended up 2-4 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base.
Oakes improves to 6-1 on the season and will take on FHL on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
