EDGELEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Jacob Nitschke and Joe Kramlich had two hits each for Edgeley/Kulm as they down the Redbirds of Carrington Thursday night 14-4 in five innings, winning by 10-run mercy rule. EK improves to 4-1 overall and 4-1 in District 6, Carrington drops to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in District 6.
The Redbirds scored one run in the top of the first, but Edgeley/Kulm scored three runs in the home half of the first inning and nine in the third to take the lead 12-1. The Redbirds got three runs back in the top of the fifth and forced EK to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning. EK would get the bases loaded with one out, Toby Duncan hit a grounder to third, the third baseman couldn’t make the play and the winning run scored from third for EK. Ryder Bickett for the Redbirds was 1-for-2 at the plate with a single and an RBI.
Next up for Carrington will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Casselton tournament. The Redbirds play Bottineau at 230p on Friday afternoon.
