JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jacoby Nold threw a no-hitter in game one of the night at Jack Brown Stadium as the Eagles mercy-ruled the Williston Oilers in Legion baseball 10-0 and 13-0 in two five inning games.
A pitching duel through the first two innings, Jamestown was able to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs coming off wild pitches from Williston starter Jayden Iba. Michael Mahoney and Gage Orr both scored in the third and Orr picked up the first hit of the day with his double down the left field line.
The Eagles bats would come alive in the fourth when Jamestown scored four runs on five hits, including an RBI triple by Mason Lunzman. Brooks Roaldson and Connor Hoyt each had RBI singles in the inning, and Preston Kroeber stole a base and scored as the courtesy runner for Nold.
Nold shut down the Oilers bats in the top of the fifth, and Jamestown would score four more in the inning to 10 run rule Williston. Hoyt brought in two with an RBI double and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch. The Eagles collected eight hits and committed just one error defensively, and on the mound, Nold tossed a complete game while striking out eight and only walking one.
The Post 14 Eagles improve to 6-2 on the year with a 6-0 record in the West. Jamestown will travel to Minot on Monday for a non-conference doubleheader. The Eagles return to Jack Brown Stadium on June 29th to face Valley City.
