BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown seniors Ella Roalson and Payton Gall helped lead the North Dakota West All-Stars to two victories over the East yesterday in Bismarck as the West won 6-2 and 3-2.

In game one, the West put up all six of its runs in the first two innings, four of which were unearned to the East starter Hailey Schaefer of Valley City. Gall went 2-for-2 at the plate during the first game with two runs driven in, two doubles and a run scored. Roaldson finished the first game 1-for-3 with a run scored as the West allowed both of its runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Schaefer went four innings in the circle, giving up just two earned runs and striking out three.

Game two started with a bang as Roaldson hit a two-run blast off the scoreboard in left center. Roaldson finished game two by going 2-for-2, doubling in her second and final at-bat of the day.

Gall entered the game to pitch for the West in the fifth inning with the score at 3-0. Gall would give up two earned runs, but she also struck out two and picked up just the third save in ND All-Star game history to complete the doubleheader sweep for the West. Gall also went 1-for-1 at the plate in game two.

Through the first two games played, Roaldson and Gall are tied with Maddie Buchert of West Fargo Sheyenne for the most hits in the tournament (3). The All-Star games and skill competition will continue in Casselton on Tuesday as the West looks for its first sweep in series history.
