(NewsDakota.com) Here are the minutes from the Carrington City Council meeting from Monday, Sept. 10th.
Frank Klein asked the city for a special assessment to see if its worthwhile to build an additional 6 apartments by the underpass, next to First Baptist Church. It would be to determine the cost of building a new road to the units, getting water and sewer hooked up, etc… Interstate engineering will make the assessments and report back to see if its feasable to proceed with the 6 additional apartments.
Safe Communities wants to start a city ordinance to get alcohol establishments to train their servers to check for ID’s and how to spot fake ones. The businesses would have to send their new employees to this training within 90 days of their start date. Its to help stop underage drinking. Fargo already has this in place, but not every alcohol business is participating.

September 21st – 22nd, 1st street from 10th Ave to 11th Ave N will be closed for fire training. Grand Forks burn trailer will be here for regional fire training.
Stutsman Rural Water wants to purchase 35 million gallons of water for a 10 year term for $124,660. They are currently purchasing 25 million gallons of water from Carrington.
The Armory rental for the High School Board will increase by $1,000 every year starting this year. The lease was up in June, if accepted by the High School, the new 3 year lease would be $13k this year, $14k next year and $15k in 2014.
The Council approved a bid for an Industrial Park Sewer project. The only bid was from Kvansdal Construction for $36,685.
The Council wants to start the bidding process to have the old Carrington Drug Building demolished. Its been closed now for two years and its full of black mold.
Airport report: Kvansdal Construction was the lowest bidder at $43,470 for airport improvements. The weather station got hit by lightening as well, the airport is working on getting it all back online, only part of its back online, they hope to get it all back up soon.
Library: The summer reading program is going well
Public Works: Border States will start patching the streets early next month. A light on the water tower control board went out due to lightning, its the light to show the water tower is full.
