BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – A pair of first half goals by Hannah Murchie and Haley Nelson gave Jamestown a 2-0 lead and that was all the Jays needed to get past Bismarck Legacy to qualify for the state tournament.
Murchie’s goal came in the ninth minute of the game off an assist from Sara Sletto. The goal was the fourth of the season for Murchie and the fifth assist on the year for Sletto. Nelson tallied on to the Blue Jay lead in the 30th minute on a goal that was assisted by Peyton Waliser. Nelson leads the Jays in goals (7) and points (10) this season. Leach Torres made 11 saves for Jamestown off of eight shots on goal for Legacy, it was her second shutout of the season.
Jamestown now moves on to the state tournament which begins next Thursday at Grand Forks. The Blue Jays will be the #4 seed coming out of the West and will take on #1 West Fargo Sheyenne at 4:30 pm. The Mustangs finished the year with an overall record of 12-2-1.
