MINOT, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – A four run fourth inning for Jamestown proved to be the difference on Thursday night in Minot as the Blue Jays took down the Magicians 6-1 to open up the WDA tournament.

Katie Falk threw a complete game in the circle, striking out 11 batters and only allowing three walks. Minot’s only run came during the top of the seventh off of an RBI double by Paige Ackerman.

At the plate, Gracie Gunderson finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs driven in for Jamestown. Alyssa Gange and McKenna Jackson each went 2-for-3, with both girls collecting triples. Gange picked up two RBIs and Jackson scored twice. The Jays picked up eight total hits as a team and held Minot to just four.

Jamestown now moves on to the semifinals in the WDA tournament today in Minot against the #1 seed Dickinson. In four meetings so far this season, the Blue Jays are 0-4 against the top team in the West, and the Midgets finished with the best overall record in Class A at 26-2.

With a win today, Jamestown will qualify for the state tournament next week in Mandan, June 3rd-5th. You can listen to the games today and tomorrow for the Blue Jays live from Minot on Jamestown 107.1.
