JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee approved to renew the special use permit for the Compassion Center in Business Loop East Jamestown.
Opened in September of 2019, the compassion center medical marijuana dispensary has continued to do business. Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says his department has had no problems with the dispensary.
Formerly Herbology, the company was purchased by Curaleaf, which City Assessor Jamison Veil says hasn’t affected the operations or staff.
Curaleaf purchased GR Companies, Inc. in 2019 for approximately $90.1 million.
Veil says the company remains prompt and thorough in working with the city. The committee approved to renew the special use permit agreement with Curaleaf through June 2022.
The committee later discussed the Volunteer Reintegration Agreement and Waiver for the James River Correctional volunteers on city projects.

The committee approved the agreement and release and waiver of liability.
In other business, the committee approved an additional $30,000 in Flex PACE funding and approved funding improvement bonds in the amount of $2 million for annual projects.
