BISMARCK, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jay baseball team collected a pair of wins on Tuesday evening at Bismarck St. Mary’s as the Jays defeated the Saints 7-3 and 3-2 (8 inn).
Jamestown jumped on St. Mary’s in the first inning of game one by scoring four runs and never relinquishing the lead. Michael Mahoney had the first run driven in for the Jays, and Ty Monson would tally two RBIs in game one with a 2-for-3 performance. Jackson Walters also had two hits in the first game with an RBI, and Max Fonk finished 2-for-3 as well. Mason Lunzman worked all seven innings on the hill, giving up nine hits but allowing just two earned runs while striking out four and not allowing a walk.
Jamestown’s Jacoby Nold pitched all eight innings during game two for the Jays in a 3-2 extra-inning victory. Walters added another two hits in the second game, and Gage Orr led Jamestown on offense with a 3-for-5 performance and a triple. This was Jamestown’s second sweep of a doubleheader on the road this season.
Jamestown is now 8-13 on the year and 5-13 in the WDA. The Jays will return to Jack Brown Stadium on Friday for senior night at 4:30 pm in a non-conference battle against West Fargo Sheyenne before heading to Bismarck High next Monday to take on the Demons in a play-in game for the WDA tournament.
