Curbside collections over the past five years courtesy of the City of Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The amount of items collected during Citywide Curbside Cleanup was down compared to previous years.

City Administrator Sarah Hellekson reports that crews finished collecting before noon in each quadrant of the city with the final load being dropped off Thursday afternoon.

“Thanks to city staff for working so hard and on very short notice,” Hellekson stated. “The community appreciated it, as evidenced by the very few, if any, complaints we received at City Hall.”

Collection started in the SE part of Jamestown on Monday, with roughly 34 tons of bulk collected. On Tuesday, 63 tons were collected in the SW. In the NW Wednesday, 35.9 tons were collected and Thursday in the NE, around 43.11 tons were picked up.

This brings the total to 176.26 tons of collected bulk brought to the baler in 108 loads, the lowest since 2016.

2019 was the largest year for Citywide Curbside pickup when more than 433 tons of bulk were collected. The city did not hold a collection week in 2020.

There are still extended hours at the baler Monday through Friday, May 14, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 15, 8:00 am. to 3:00 p.m.
