OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Monday, May 3rd, Oakes hosted 11 Class B teams at the Oakes Open Track and Field Meet.
The Tornadoes came away with 13 first place finishers for the day and as a team both the boys and girls finished in second place.
The individual winners for Oakes were: Lanie Awender in the 100m and 200m. Emma Muggli took first in the 300m hurdles with a personal record time of 50.54. Awender and Muggli, along with Abby Cox and Tyler Thompson too first in the 4×200 and the 4×400. Sadie Hansen won the shot put with Laikyn Roney finishing second. Hansen also won the dicus with a personal best throw of 115’7″. Hansen was second to Lisbon’s Kendra Odegard in the javelin with a school record 103’10”.
On the boys side, the team of Joseph Heim, Blayson Dolney, Brandon Peters, Garret Meehl took first in the 4×400. Dalton Schmidt and Adam Mayer joined Dolney and Peters to win the 4×800. Alex Muggli took the shot put with a personal bests throw of 44’11”. Ashton Biesterfeld took first in the discus and the javelin. In the discus, he was first with a school record throw of 150’4″ and in the javelin, he won that with a persona; best throw of 174’2.5″. Garrett Meehl won the long jump with a personal best of 20’6″ with Alex Muggli taking second.
Lisbon won the boys and Carrington won the girls team competition. Here are how the team scores finished.
