LEXINGTON, KY (jimmiepride.com) – Four University of Jamestown women’s volleyball players and head coach Jon Hegerle earned All-Region honors by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Kalli Hegerle (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) and Anna Holen (JR/LaMoure, N.D.) both received West Central Region first team honors.
Hegerle tied for the team lead with a .305 hitting percentage and was second on the Jimmies with 301 kills. Holen led UJ with 322 kills and was second on the team with 498 digs. Hegerle and Holen were also first-team GPAC All-Conference selections this season.
Corina Huff (SR/Breezy Point, Minn.) and Jackie Meiklejohn (JR/Dickey, N.D.) were chosen as honorable mention West Central Region. Huff recorded 222 kills while hitting .277. She also provided strong defense at the net, finishing second on the team in both total blocks (111) and block assists (89). Meiklejohn passed out a team-best 738 assists and tied for second on the Jimmies with 31 service aces. Huff and Meiklejohn both earned spots on the GPAC All-Conference second team.
Jon Hegerle was named West Central Region Coach of the Year. In his 12th season, Hegerle led the Jimmies to a 30-2 record and a spot in the national semifinals for the second consecutive season. He earned his 300th career win against Eastern Oregon on April 29 and is now 300-112 for his career. Hegerle was also named GPAC Coach of the Year.
