JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund says they’re always shaping ways to enhance visitor experience in Jamestown.
One of those ways is through the Frontier Village, where Swedlund says they’ve been working to create new experiences and make way for future growth.
Swedlund says the recent focus of Tourism has been the buildings on the site.
He added that there are some historical buildings at the site that they wish to keep and maintain including the depot, church, general store, and school. He stated that they are working to be refurbished, repainted, and prepared for the future.
As a result, the decision was made to clear out some of the more dilapidated buildings to make way for a new experience at the Frontier Village.
The parkette will be homesteader themed, focusing on the life of a homesteader in Jamestown. Swedlund stated this would give visitors a more hands-on and education approach to visiting the Frontier Village.
Other opportunities Tourism has set their sights on include a new virtual tour of downtown. That project is estimated to begin sometime this summer and be ready for 2022. Swedlund says they’re also working on increase waterway access for kayakers and canoes by working with the US Army Corps of Engineers to connect Pipestem to the James River.
