Izumi will be located inside the former Rock’s Taphouse building
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Earlier this year it was announced that Izumi Sushi & Hibachi would be opening in Jamestown this Spring.
According to General Manager John Weng, they can’t set an official opening date until inspections and renovations are completed.
Weng says they’re hopeful all inspections will be conducted and completed within the next two weeks as they look towards an early May opening day.
He says Izumi was the first in North Dakota to bring a sushi and hibachi hybrid business model and says their menu will feature something for everyone.
Weng added that those who are hesitant about the raw fish aspect, there will be cooked and fried options along with their grilled chicken, steaks, and seafood stir-fry dishes.
When asked why they were expanding to Jamestown, Weng stated that the pandemic gave them the opportunity to grow their business in North Dakota.
Weng says they continue to eye expansion opportunities, but Jamestown was the next closes option and a place they saw had a need for their cuisine. He added that its proximity to Fargo would allow them to travel if there was a need for them to do so.
As far as employment opportunities, Weng says they are currently training some staff in Fargo that will be stationed at the Jamestown location. He pointed out there will be openings for others to apply as well and once they’re fully staffed, they will hold a grand opening.
Izumi will be located inside the former Rock’s Taphouse building at 2612 8th Ave SW.
