MINOT, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jay baseball team was held in check offensively on Saturday as they lost both games of the doubleheader 7-0 and 6-3 against Minot.
Minot hopped in front in game one by putting up four runs in the first inning. The Blue Jays Connor Hoyt went 2-for-3 in the first game, and Jamestown tallied five total hits off the Magi in their first road game of the year. Mason Lunzman, Jacoby Nold, and Max Fronk all recorded hits for Jamestown during game one.
The Blue Jays hopped on the scoreboard early in game two, scoring a run in the second inning to tie the game at one. Jamestown would allow three runs in the next two innings before bringing the game back to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth. The Magi scored two more runs in the fifth and then shut out Jamestown for the remainder of the game to remain unbeaten in the WDA this season.
Gage Orr was handed the loss in game one and Ty Monson lost in game two as Jamestown dropped to 1-5 on the season and 1-5 in the WDA. The Jays have lost five straight heading into a non-conference game on Monday evening at 5:00 in Valley City.
