JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Marksmanship Education Range (JMER) has announced plans to build a 36,000 square foot Indoor Range facility.

“JMER is in the process of leasing land from Stutsman County on the east side of the Jamestown Reservoir, just South and East of the present ND Game and Fish Office,” JMER President Keith Domke stated. “The state-of-the-art facility will utilize all safety and sound abatement procedures to ensure that no bullets or noise can exit the building. All shooting activities will be supervised by a qualified Range Safety Officer.”

The facility plan includes several 25 yard shooting bays as well as a few 100 yard shooting bays. In addition to the shooting bays, an indoor archery range, 2 classrooms and a retail space is planned for the facility.

The JMER is a non-profit 501 c(3) entity that plans to serve the community by offering firearms related educational events as well as provide a safe place to shoot year round.

“JMER plans to finance construction of the facility by utilizing local donations and apply for matching funds from Pittman-Robertson excise taxes collected from the sale of hunting and outdoor equipment,” Domke added. “Once constructed there will be a daily fee required to use the facilities. A yearly all access pass will also be available.”

Earlier this month, Domke approached the Stutsman County Commission about the possible lease of the land. Click here for the full story.
