NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (Jimmiepride.com)– The University of Jamestown men’s golf team held on for a one-shot victory at the BCU Men’s Spring Invite, hosted by Briar Cliff University at Two Rivers Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Jimmies won the 10-team field with rounds of 293 and 290, to finish at 23-over 583. Briar Cliff was second at 24-over 584 (295-289), and Dakota Wesleyan third at 26-over 586 (299-287).
Jackson Worner (SO/West Fargo, N.D.) and Tate Olson (JR/Cook, Minn.) posted top-five finishes for UJ. Worner shot 2-over 142 (71-71) to place third while Olson was fourth at 3-over 143 (76-67). Olson’s second round of 67 was the second-lowest score of the 36-hole tournament.
Hudson Roling (JR/Thermopolis, Wyo.) (72-77) and Treyton Forsman (JR/Lewiston, Idaho) (74-75) tied for 12th at 9-over 149, and Benjamin Schaefer (FR/New Rockford, N.D.) tied for 34th at 21-over 161 (81-80).
Playing as individuals, Adam Nedens (SO/Billings, Mont.) was 37th at 22-over 162 (83-79) and Carter Wells (SO/Huron, S.D.) 41st at 27-over 167 (86-81).
Corey Matthey of Morningside was the top finisher at even-par 140 (72-68), and Bennett Lundy of Dakota Wesleyan was second at 1-over 141 (75-66).
The Jimmies will play at the GPAC Championship on April 26-27 at Dakota Dunes CC in Dakota Dunes, S.D.
