DES MOINES, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – #4 Jamestown opened up the NAIA Men’s Volleyball Championship pool play on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-21) win over Georgetown College (KY).

Five Jimmies tallied at least seven kills as Caylor Cox led the way with 10 kills and a .409 attack percentage. Austin Jacob led Jamestown in attack percentage by hitting .875 with seven kills and three blocks. The GPAC Player of the Year Derek Owens finished with seven kills and hit .667 for the match. Jamestown as a team recorded a .309 attack percentage for the match en route to their 21st win of the season.

AVCA Second Team All-American Samuel Jackman recorded eight kills and three block assists in the win. Freshman Tanner Woods also had seven kills to cap off an opening round victory in pool play for Jamestown. Sophomore Derek Correa assisted on 33 different kills for the Jimmies and also collected two kills of his own.

Jamestown held Georgetown to a .111 attack percentage and UJ capitalized at the service line with six service aces against two service aces for the Tigers. Braden Neumann had three aces for the Jimmies and posted nine digs.

Pool play continues for Jamestown on Wednesday when they face #6 Park University (MO). Park ended the season with a 19-5 overall record and will play Georgetown tomorrow before facing the Jimmies on Thursday at 4 pm.
