OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – LaMoure-Litchville-Marion scored six runs in the fourth inning and then shut down Oakes in the final three innings for a 7-3 win in high school baseball Monday at Cummings Field in Oakes.
The Loboes got on the board first in the top if the first when Anthony Hanson was walked with the bases loaded and two outs.
The Tornadoes would score three in the bottom of the second to take the 3-1 lead. Steele Hansen and Bryley Haberman scored on a single by Fletcher Willprecht. The with Garret Meehl at the plate, Brady McKenna stole home to make it 3-1.
But in the top of the fourth, LaMoure-Litchville-Marion would explode for six runs. Connor Johnson singled to center field to score Cyle Warcken and Colton Ness to tie the game at 3. Then with two out, Connor Johnson scored on an error and Garrett Hebl would drive in Landon Piehl with a single to center field. Hanson doubled to score Hebl and Warcken singled in Hanson for the final tally.
Connor Johnson was 3 for 5 with two runs and two rbi to lead the Loboes. Dalton Madke was 2 for 5 and Cyle Warcken was 2 for 4 with a run and a rbi for LLM.
Garret Meehl and Jaidy Gebhardt were both 2 for 4. Fletcher Willprecht had two rbi. for the Tornadoes.
Connor Johnson got the win for the Loboes. He pitched four innings, allowed four hits and three unearned runs. He walked one and fanned two. Corbin Potts pitched three innings of shutout relief. He gave up three hits, walked two and struck out four.
Brady McKenna took the loss. He gave up six hits and six runs in two innings. Only one of the runs was earned. He walked four and struck out one.
In game 2, Fletcher Willprecht pitched three shut out innings as Oakes won 1-0. Willprecht allowed just two hits with four strike outs. He retired the last six batters he faced and nine of ten. Colton Ness’s lead off single in the second was the only base runner for the Loboes.
Brogan Roney scored Blayson Dolney with a single in the bottom of the first for the lone run in the game.
The Tornadoes will host Kindred/Richland Thursday at Cummings Field in a Region 1 matchup. First pitch is at 5pm and can be heard on 1220AM/95.9 FM KDDR The Tornado.
