JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown baseball team dropped all three of its conference games on Saturday against Mount Marty as they lost 3-2, 4-0, and 8-6.

Jamestown and Mount Marty played three seven inning games at Jack Brown Stadium as the Jimmies struggled to string hits together in a GPAC tripleheader. Jamestown had an early 2-0 lead in game one before the Lancers mounted a comeback to take the first game from UJ. Dru Fitz was handed the loss after going five innings, allowing one earned run and three total hits. The senior is now 5-1 on the year with a 3.19 ERA.

The Jimmies were blanked in game two by Mount Marty as Blake Svoboda went all seven innings for the Lancers while giving up just five hits and striking out 13. Svoboda allowed just two walks in the second game, and Jamestown’s Kensaku Akiya dropped to 2-4 on the year.

The bats finally woke up for Jamestown in game three during the sixth inning when senior Brice Foster hit a grand slam to pull the Jimmies within one run. UJ allowed four total home runs to Mount Marty in game three and the Lancers tacked on a run in the seventh before shutting down Jamestown and sweeping the tripleheader from the Jimmies.

Jamestown dropped to 25-15 and 11-8 in the GPAC for the 2021 season. The Jimmies will play on Tuesday when they travel to Mayville State for a nine inning game. UJ returns to conference play this weekend when they head to Morningside and Concordia for four total games.
