SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Jimmie softball team took home both GPAC awards this week as Kat Miska was named the Pitcher of the Week and Morgan Geiszler earned Player of the Week honors.

Miska, a junior from Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, was two outs of a perfect game in a 6-0 win over Briar Cliff but ended up with a complete game one-hitter instead. She struck out 11 on Saturday and Jamestown swept the Chargers in the doubleheader. Miska allowed one earned run on the week and finished with a 2-0 overall record. She currently is 11th in the NAIA with an ERA of .92.

Geiszler, also a junior but from Horace, North Dakota had six extra base hits for Jamestown in a 4-0 week for the Jimmies on the diamond. Geiszler posted three doubles, a triple, and two home runs while recording a slugging percentage of 1.308 and an OBP of .533.

UJ returns to Trapper Field on Friday when they host Concordia (NE) who was receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll. The Jimmies will play a doubleheader against the Bulldogs Friday before facing off against Midland at home for two games Saturday.
