JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Motorists will start seeing the beginning work of the road diet along main street in Jamestown this week.
City Councilmember David Steele reports work will begin this week after a meeting with North Dakota Department of Transportation officials.
The project will run from First Avenue South to Highway 52 near the tennis courts. It includes removing traffic lights and adding bumpits, flashing crosswalks, and keeping traffic to two lanes with a dedicated left-turn lane.
No website will be established for the project, so Steele says they will rely on public service announcements to keep the public informed on the construction status.
The project is expected to finish in mid-September.
Later, Mayor Dwaine Heinrich reported that the temporary emergency measure requiring face masks for front-facing employees in Jamestown was allowed to expire.
Heinrich says he believes the decision to require masks will be looked back on as a good idea and vaccinations will hopefully mean the emergence on the other side of the pandemic.
