VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2021 Community Wellness For All Grant Round. We were able to award $28,910 to two nonprofits in Barnes County thanks to the generosity of private donors. The Community Wellness For All Program seeks to increase physical activities and integrate multiple aspects of wellness for low income individuals of Barnes County.
Dare to Create Foundation for the Arts was awarded $8,910 to promote growth and acceptance of all styles of dance, artistry, and physical wellness through a scholarship program. The overall mission of the Dare to Create Foundation for the Arts is to provide a safe haven to build positive friendships, body image and create a love for movement. “We are incredibly grateful for the support that’s been shown for this new Foundation in Valley City and by the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation. People of all ages can benefit from a welcoming space to foster healthy movement and encourage creativity. We are proud to be able to offer scholarships for the continued enjoyment of these programs.” Kaleen Peterson, Dare to Create board member.
A portion of funds will specifically support people with physical and/or developmental disabilities with an objective to increase student knowledge and love for movement ultimately graduating into currently established dance classes.
Valley City Parks and Recreation was awarded $20,000 to offer reduced rates for youth programs, LEAP, Community Pool and the Gaukler Family Wellness Center to low income individuals. “The impact of this scholarship program to those who receive is difficult to quantify. We are grateful to the donors who support this fund and the opportunity through the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation” said Tyler Jacobson, Director of VCPR. The Valley City Park District continues to strive to increase recreational opportunities for all ages, stages and abilities.
