March has been a busy month for the JHS speech team.

The team started with a trip to Carrington on March 6 to compete against 9 other schools, taking home 8 champions: Logan Motter in dramatic, Kendra Dawson in humorous interpretation, Madison Grieve in impromptu, Paris Ndikum in radio broadcasting, Anja McDermid and Ian Weis in serious duo, Anja McDermid in serious prose, Keelie Renwick in speech to entertain, and Madison Motschenbacher in speech to inform.

On March 13, the JHS speech team hosted a meet at Jamestown High School competing against 9 class A and B schools.

The team finished the day with four champions: Ian Weis in humorous interpretation, Anja McDermid in serious prose, Anja McDermid and Ian Weis in serious duo, and Madison Motschenbacher in speech to inform.

The final meet of the season took the team to Mandan on March 20 and finished with five champions – Ian Weis in humorous, Logan Motter in dramatic, Will Nelson in extemporaneous speaking, Madison Motschenbacher in speech to persuade, and Ian Weis and Westin Walker in humorous duo.

The team will perform for their parents at the Jamestown Middle School at the annual Parent’s Day on March 27.

WDA regional meet is Saturday, April 10 in Bismarck and the state class A meet is at Jamestown High School on April 17.

The team is coached by Laura Weis, Chantel Harr, and Alivia Hoke.
