EMMONS COUNTY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Investigation of a suspicious object located on an Emmons County road has been completed by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Authorities were notified Tuesday morning by a North Dakota Department of Transportation employee who found the object while performing maintenance on Highway 1804.
“Preliminary analysis of the object found indicates the object was an explosive device commonly known as a pipe bomb,” the NDHP states in a release. “The device was not found in or near any structures. The origin of the device is currently under investigation.”
After being rendered safe by the Bismarck Bomb Squad, the device was turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for examination.
