JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Valley Library System (JRVLS) is taking a cautious approach when it comes to lifting restrictions during the pandemic.

JRVLS Library Director Joe Rector reports that they are seeking to begin lifting some more restrictions as they continue service to the city and county.

Rector reports the JRVLS Board moved to open more computers at Alfred Dickey Library, Stutsman County Library, and children’s area, individual computer sessions have increased to 30 minutes, and Saturday hours will return in mid-April pending any setbacks.

The Stutsman County Library is also still undergoing renovations with the current carpeting project underway. Rector says the old carpet has been ripped out by the Blue Jays football team and new carpet is expected soon.

Rector says some questions may be raised on the current renovations when the future plan is to move the Stutsman County Library to a new facility. He says due to very little upkeep and an unprofessional appearance, they wanted to ensure the services they provide at the current facility were the best they can be until then.

With renovations, Rector says they hope to continue bringing in patrons and providing a comfortable atmosphere for different programs while they save for a new facility.

He added they are still planning to find a new facility, which will be vital for the growth and future of the Stutsman County Library.
