Chickasha, OK. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown Jimmies softball team picked up a 2-1 victory over the #2 ranked University of Science and Arts in the first game of a doubleheader.
Junior Kat Miska won her sixth game of the year in the circle as she struck out nine to lead Jamestown to its fifth consecutive win. The run allowed by Miska on the rubber was unearned, and she lowered her ERA to .44 this season.
Jamestown picked up the first run of the game in the third inning when Sydney Prussia led off the frame with a single to right field. After Bemidji native Gracie Fisher bunted her over, sophomore Steph Cota doubled to left to bring in Prussia and put the Jimmies ahead 1-0.
UJ scored once again in the fifth when Fisher led off the inning with a single. After she reached third, Lauren Diemert came into pinch run and scored on a Morgan Geiszler single to left.
In game two, the Jimmies scored two runs in the seventh to tie the game at four, but the Drovers hit a walk-off grand slam to beat Jamestown.
The Jimmies move to 15-5 on the year and will now have more than a week off before opening GPAC play on March 20th against Northwestern. Jamestown went 8-2 on their 10-game road trip.
