JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Univesity of Jamestown softball team wrapped up the weekend at 3-1, and the Jimmies baseball team split the four meetings against Culver-Stockton.

SOFTBALL: Friday – UJ 9, Friends Univ. 1. G2: UJ 16, Bethel 4

Saturday – UJ 8 Panhandle 0. G2: Friends 11, UJ 8

The Jimmies put up 25 total runs on Friday in routes over Friends University and Bethel College. Jamestown scored four runs in the sixth inning against Friends, and then kept the offense moving in the second game of the day by putting on six runs versus Bethel. Morgan Geiszler had three RBIs against Friends, and Katie Reisdorfer hit a three-run home run to take down Bethel.

Kat Miska won two games over the weekend, improving her overall record to 4-1 on the season. Miska had 25 total strikeouts on Friday and Saturday. UJ now sits at 10-4 on the season and will play a doubleheader at Tabor College today starting at 2 pm.

BASEBALL: Friday – UJ 10, Culver-Stockton 3. G2: UJ 5, Culver-Stockton 2.

Saturday – Culver-Stockton 9, UJ 4. G2: Culver-Stockton 10, UJ 9

Jamestown holds an 8-7 record on the year following the four-game split with the Wildcats over the weekend. The Jimmies scored five first-inning runs in the opening game against Culver-Stockton, and Dru Fitz earned his second win by going six innings and striking out six.

In game two on Friday, Luke Shekeryk went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in and two scored in the 5-2 victory. Kensaku Akiya picked up his first victory of the year, striking out eight Wildcat hitters. UJ continues its spring break road trip tomorrow at Hannibal-LaGrange, and then will take on #6 LSU-Shreveport on Friday and Saturday with four total games in Joplin Missouri.
