MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Junior Sydnie Grager scored 15 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had three blocks to help the number four seeded Carrington Cardinals defeat the number five seeded Cardinals of Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich 45-39 in the quarterfinals of the 2021 State Class B Girls Basketball tournament at the Minot State University Dome on Thursday night. Carrington improves to 20-5 overall and LAEM drops to 18-7 overall.

Langdon Area/EM led after the first quarter of play 14-9, but a big second quarter helped Carrington take the lead 30-25. LAEM cut the gap to three points in the second half but some big free throws in the fourth quarter by Emma Rindy, Kenzie Edland, Hannah Hagel and Grager helped Carrington stay in the lead. All five starters scored for Carrington, Hagel and Lexi Page had 11 points each, Page had two 3-pointers, Rindy had five points and Edland three points. LAEM was led by Morgan Freije with 14 points.

Next up for Carrington will be against the Number one seed Central Cass Squirrels on Friday night at 9pm, KDAK and newsdakota.com will have the coverage starting about 845pm pregame. Carrington met Central Cass during the regular season on January 16th in Casselton, the Cardinals lost 59-40.
