Orange City, IA (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown men’s basketball team withstood the home crowd and Northwestern until the final two minutes of the game as the Red Raiders defeated the Jimmies 74-69.

The Jimmies led by five going into the halftime break after shooting 48% from the field. Jamestown was also 46% from long range and held Northwestern to just 1-8 from three. The Jimmies were outscored by 10 in the second half as the Red Raiders lit up the stat sheet by hitting on 60% of their shots.

Jamestown was led in scoring by sophomore Mason Walters, who had his 21st double-double of the year. Walters finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds and has the most double-doubles of any player in the NAIA this season.

Marc Kjos played 38 minutes of game time and scored 12 points while dishing out four assists for UJ. Senior Jack Talley also finished in double figures with 12.

The Jimmies finish the year with a 19-8 overall record, just a game short of the GPAC finale. Jamestown may still have a shot at an at-large bid for the NAIA tournament, but with the field decreased from 64 to 48 teams this year, the margin is slimmer.
