SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jimmies women’s basketball team pushed #7 Morningside to the brink of elimination on Wednesday night before eventually falling 84-75 to the Mustangs.

Sophomore Kia Tower tied her career-high point total as she finished with 25 for Jamestown on 10-18 shooting. Macy Savela had another big game off the bench for the Jimmies, and the consistent three-point threat dropped in 16 on five made threes. Hannah DeMars also finished in double figures, putting up 15 points and five rebounds.

Morningside was the regular-season champion in the GPAC, and the Mustangs have now won 18 straight games. Sierra Mitchell scored a game-high 27 points in the win for Morningside.

Jamestown stuck around throughout the entirety of the game and even led for a brief moment during the second quarter of play. The Jimmies brought it back to within five with less than four minutes to play, but the Mustangs converted on free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

UJ finishes the year with a 15-11 overall record. The Jimmies went 9-1 at Harold Newman Arena this year and had a season-long four game win streak during the month of January.
