Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Cardinals girls basketball team trailed 41-30 after three quarters to sixth ranked Thompson. A 12-4 fourth quarter gave the Cardinals multiple chances in the final 90 seconds to possibly tie the game but came up a short as the Tommies held on for the 45-42 victory. Thompson was paced by Mackenzie Hughes (5’5 senior) with a game high 14 points. Jada Welke (5’7 senior) added 8 points for the Tommies.

Carrington was led by Hannah Hagel (5’10 senior) with 13 points and Sydnie Grager (5’11 junior) with 11 points. Kenzie Edland (5’9 senior) added 9 points for the Cardinals. Thompson improved to 15-2 and Carrington dropped to 14-5. The Cardinals will start District 5 play on Saturday (2/13) at Jamestown Civic Center as the number 1 seed in the semifinals (first round bye). The entire District 5 tournament will be aired on Q101.1 FM & www.newsdakota.com  starting on Friday (2/12).
