LA CROSSE, WIS. – Viterbo’s Noah Fredrickson hit seven of Viterbo’s 16 three-pointers en route to a 91-81 victory over the Vikings on Friday night.

Valley City State drops to 15-5 overall and 6-4 in the North Star. Viterbo improves to 9-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play. VCSU and Viterbo move into a four-way tie with Bellevue and Dakota State for second place in the NSAA standings.

Three Vikings reached double figures Friday including Daevonte Munson (11), Connor Entzi (10), and Cayden Rickard (10). Jalen Addison and Hunter Sand each chipped in nine points while Addison led the rebounding effort with six boards.

Viterbo opened strong over the first 12 minutes of play to build a 15-point lead at 26-11. A layup from Hunter Sand sparked a 14-3 Viking run that was capped by a three-pointer from Daevonte Munson to close the deficit to two points at 29-27. The Vikings later tied it up with a three-pointer from Cayden Rickard with just over a minute until the break. Viterbo’s Noah Fredrickson sank a 3 to hold a 42-37 advantage heading into the locker room.

Viterbo led by as much as 15 points in the second half on another three-pointer from Fredrickson with 5:43 to go. The Vikings then took a 10-0 run capped by a layup from Chris Thompson to trail 74-69, but could get no closer down the stretch as they fell to the V-Hawks Friday night.

Valley City State shot 56 percent from the field (30-54), 44 percent on three-pointers (10-23), and 85 percent from the free throw line (11-13). Viterbo shot 43 percent from the field (27-63), 41 percent on 3’s (16-39), and 81 percent on free throws (21-26).

The Vikings totaled 21 turnovers in Friday’s game after averaging only 11 turnovers per game this season.

Brady Polk led Viterbo with 27 points while Noah Fredrickson scored 24, including seven 3’s for the V-Hawks.
