Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes came roaring into Oakes after a big weekend win but left with their tails between their legs after getting handed a 64-46 loss to the Tornadoes Tuesday night.

The game was a back-and-forth affair through the first quarter, with the Tornadoes taking a 14-12 lead into the break.  The lead only grew from there, however, as the Tornadoes led 31-22 at the half and led by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.

The Tornadoes used the fast break and their athleticism advantage to get out and get easy baskets, with sophomore Joey Heim getting a pair of fast-break layups back-to-back in the first quarter.  The Tornadoes kept the pace up until the last few minutes, when they stalled to run the clock.

Senior Steele Hansen went scoreless in the first quarter, but he made up for it by scoring seven points in the second quarter, helping the Tornadoes to build their halftime lead.  Hansen led all scorers with 22 points.  Fellow seniors Ashton Biesterfeld and Garret Meehl added 15 and 14, respectively.

Junior Charlie Bowman led the Loboes with 13 points, and Corban Potts labored his way to 11.  Potts, a top scorer and ball-handler for the Loboes, struggled to make shots from all ranges, as the Tornadoes threw different defenders and plenty of help at the junior.  Potts did make several very nice plays, though, with an impressive reverse layup in the second half and a few tough passes standing out.

The win moves the Tornadoes to 10-3, including 3-1 in District 5.  The Loboes fall to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in the District.  The Tornado boys play another District 5 game on Friday when they travel to Ellendale for the annual Cowbell Game.  That action will be live on KDDR 1220 am/95.9 fm beginning around 7 pm.  Thursday, the Tornado girls will travel to Linton to play the Linton-HMB Lions, with action also beginning around 7 pm on KDDR.
