JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Businesses and individuals were recognized and honored virtually in the 90th Annual Jamestown Chamber Annual Banquet Thursday night.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Emily Bivens says COVID-19 prevented them from holding the banquet as they normally do. She highlighted some accomplishments the chamber made in 2020.
Chamber Beautification Board Member Felicia Sargent gave three awards in the community. They included:
Continuing Beautification: Wilson Memorial Park on the UJ Campus
Spot of Beauty: Jamestown Fire Department
Best Landscaping: Menards
The chamber later recognized Tim Perkins of Premium Property Management as the Young Professional of the Year. The award is given to a young person who has shown excellence in their career.
Business of the Year was given to Central Valley Health District. Unit Administrator Robin Iszler accepted the award on behalf of the business and highlighted the history of the organization and their work during the pandemic in 2020.
Later, Robin Iszler was announced as the Above & Beyond Award recipient for 2020. The award recognizes an individual who had exceeded day-to-day duties in 2020 and in a way that benefited the community and citizens of Jamestown.
She stated she was grateful to be recognized for this honor.
The final award was the Citizen of the Year, which was given to Kari Newman Ness. The award recognizes an individual who has dedicated their life, resources, and service to the betterment of the community.
Ness thanked her late father Harold Newman and the continued service of her mother as inspiration to her continued dedication to Jamestown.
Later, outgoing board president Mary Lou Urquhart passed the gavel to incoming board president Matthew Pepple.
