FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Coming in it was #1 versus #2 in the Eastern Dakota Conference. And #1 came out on top as Valley City downed Fargo Davies 48-12 in wrestling Saturday afternoon in Fargo.

Unlike some of the recent matches, Valley City had to work hard for all of its points. The Hi-Liners had five pins today, about half of what they have had the last two matches.

Logan Navara got things started with a pin of Sajan Gurung at 1:20 of the 120 pound match. Tucker Johnson followed suit with a pin of Liam Wicklow at 126 in 3:21 to make it 12-0 Hi-Liners. At 132 Ethan Miller defeated Malachi Werremeyer 6-0 to make it 15-0 Valley City.

The Eagles would get on the scoreboard at 138 when Sawyer Frie would defeat Isaiah Schuldheisz 3-0 to make it 15-3 Valley City.

The Hi-Liners would take the next six matches beginning at 145 when Espen Kunze would get a late reversal to win 8-7 over David Arop. Ezra Hanse got by Ryan Barth 7-4 at 152 to make it 21-3 Valley City. Evan Mielke pinned Jackson Greff at 2:53 at 160 to give Valley City a 27-3 lead.

At 170, Broden Muske defeated Landon Allex 6-0 to make it 30-3 Hi-Liners. The dual win was clinched at 182 pounds when Jonathan Redfearn won by tech fall, 18-3, over Ahmed Nuur to make it 35-3. Jonah Schuldheisz got by Rylen Reid 7-4 to give Valley City a 38-3 lead.

Davies would get the next two when defending state champion Truman Werremeyer would defeat Carson McGough 6-3 at 220. Dylan Carlquist pinned Devyn Thornton at 285 in 1:09.

At 106, Koltyn Grebel pinned Kane Mathiason in 1:35 to make it 44-12. Brother Koye would wrap up the match with a major decision, 14-4 over Wyatt Kosidowski to make the final 48-12.

Valley City improves to 7-0 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 8-0 overall. Davies falls to 6-1 overall and in the conference.
