VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Firefighters responded to a call of smoke coming from a garage at a rural residence northwest of Valley City on December 30th about 1:26pm.
Valley City Rural Fire District Chief Scott Magnuson said heat from a wood stove caused material near the rafters of the garage to burn. Smoke was visible as firefighters arrived on the scene.
Magnuson said we responded to a fire call at 11528 32nd St SE Valley City ND at 13:26pm. He said when crews arrived on the scene they saw smoke coming from the roof of an unattached garage. The owner stated that they had filled the wood burner full and it got to hot and burned through the chimney at the roof lines. Firefighters opened the roof and cooled down the rafters and insulation. There were no injuries and crews were on scene for about an hour and thirty-five minutes.
