ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Sadie Hansen and Emma Muggli had 18 points each to help the Tornadoes of Oakes defeat the Ellendale Cardinals Friday night in District 5 girls basketball 57-26. Oakes improves to 1-0 and 2-0 overall, Ellendale drops to 0-2 and 0-2 overall.

The Tornadoes scored the first two points of the game when Muggli got the tip and sent the ball to Hansen who scored an easy two just five seconds into the contest. Ellendale kept it close tying the contest at two, five and 10, but the Tornadoes pulled ahead 18-10 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Abby Cox added 11 for the Tornadoes, including three 3-pointers. Abby Molan led Ellendale with 15, including three 3-pointers.

Next up for Oakes will be on Monday night at BCN, KDDR will have the coverage starting about 7pm.
