The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) held its first-ever virtual pre-resolutions session last week, bringing together farmer delegates from MCGA’s 52 county organizations to address the issues impacting farmers. Despite the move online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event once again demonstrated the grassroots engagement that is vital to MCGA’s success.

Delegates from county organizations submitted resolutions prior to and during the event, with engaged discussion around each submission. MCGA President Tim Waibel moderated the resolutions session, which was attended by nearly 90 delegates.

The pre-resolutions session completed the list of proposed resolutions for final consideration by county delegates during the delegate session at MCGA’s annual meeting, which will also be held virtually. Formal adoption of resolutions will take place at that time.

“A thank you to the many delegates who adapted to the virtual format this year and continued to make your voice heard on MCGA state and federal legislative policy and priorities,” MCGA President Tim Waibel said. “While I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish virtually, I look forward to when we once again have the opportunity to advance our grassroots mission in person.”

Prior to the resolutions discussion, Blois Olson from Fluence Media presented on the ag implications of Minnesota’s elections, and Tom Sell of Combest Sell & Associations recapped the federal election and its potential impact on Minnesota’s farmers.
