JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The annual Stutsman County Girls and Boys Basketball Tournaments are usually held in December and January of each year, usually the girls in December and the boys in January, but the girls tournament couldn’t avoid Covid-19 complications this year.
The girls tournament was originally scheduled for December 10th, 11th and 12th at the Jamestown Civic Center, but the Governor’s original proclamation issued on November 13th to help slow the spread of Covid-19, created a four-week pause in winter sports competitions. The Stutsman County Tournament committee cancelled the girls tournament and then on Wednesday night, December 2nd, the tournament committee revisited the idea of rescheduling to a later date, but could not find any open dates to make it up.
The boys tourney will still be held on January 7th, 8th and 9th, 2021 at the Jamestown Civic Center, game times are at 1:00/3:00/5:00/7:00. The eight Class B teams competing will be Medina-Pingree-Buchanan, Carrington, Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier, Ellendale, Kidder County, Midkota, Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter and South Border.
The Tournament will be broadcast on Thunder Country 98.3 FM and newsdakota.com.
