JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With the slow approach of winter in North Dakota, the transition from fall to winter hunting and outdoor activity begins.
North Dakota Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says the late season waterfowl closure begins December 6th, but where one door closes, another opens.
Leier added that several other seasons continue through January.
He also encouraged anglers to still wait for ice to thicken up before venturing out this winter.
Leier says carrying a spudbar or ice chisel to check ice thickness, wearing a life jacket, and having ice tongs while staying cautious is the best way to stay safe.
You can listen to Doug Leier and the Great Outdoors every Thursday at 7:35 AM with JD in the Morning on Big Dog 95.5 FM.
