OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes had another strong defensive performance with four different players with at least 15 digs and Sadie Hansen nearly had a triple-double as the fifth ranked Tornadoes moved on to the Region 3 semifinals with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-22) win over Strasburg-Zeeland Tuesday night at the Tornado Gym.
Hansen just missed a triple-double with nine kills, 13 assists, five blocks and a team high 21 digs. Abby Cox had four kills, a team high 16 assists, three blocks and seven digs. Laikyn Roney had a double-double with a team high 10 kills and 20 digs. Grace Day had eight kills and 17 assists. Aspen Hill had 15 digs.
With the win, the Tornadoes set up a rematch with Linton/HMB in the semifinals. The Lions had no trouble with Ellendale winning 25-9, 25-7 and 25-13.
The top ranked Lions swept the Tornadoes on October 15 when they were #1 and Oakes was #2 in the state.
