JAMESTOWN, N.D. (newsdakota.com) – The University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team stayed unbeaten this season with a sweep of Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University Tuesday night at Harold Newman Arena. Set scores were 25-12, 25-20, and 25-22.

Jamestown, now 15-0 overall and 12-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, is in Orange City, Iowa, Thursday to face Northwestern College. DWU falls to 12-8 overall and 8-8 in the GPAC.

The Jimmies used a balanced offensive attack against the Tigers, as six players registered six or more kills.

Kalli Hegerle (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) had 10 to lead the way, followed by Corina Huff (SR/Breezy Point, Minn.) with eight, and Taylor Sabinash (JR/Kensal, N.D.) and Anna Holen (JR/LaMoure, N.D.) with seven.

Jayla Ritter (JR/Forest Lake, Minn.) hit a team-high .500 for the match with six kills in 12 attempts.

Jackie Meiklejohn (JR/Dickey, N.D.) passed out 22 assists and Megan Gaffaney (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) added 18 in helping Jamestown hit .309 for the match.

Holen and Sydney Ellingson (SR/Langdon, N.D.) had 11 digs each. UJ’s net defense was busy, as Ritter finished with six total blocks and Huff five.

Jamestown outhit DWU .286-(-.038) on the way to a 25-12 first set victory. The Jimmies sent 15 balls to the floor compared to just four for the Tigers.

UJ had its best hitting performance in set two, finishing at .484 with 18 kills and just three errors in 31 attempts.

Tuesday’s win was the 13th straight for UJ over DWU dating back to 2005.
