JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says traffic has been noticeably slower now that the paving and striping has been done for the road diet along mainstreet.
Chief Edinger informed the Police & Fire Committee Thursday that he has seen considerably slower traffic on mainstreet, which has been reduced from four lanes to two lanes with a dedicated turning lane.
With that, Edinger added that he is also seeing some problem points along main, including merging at the 7th Street South turn lane and some sight lines.
With those in mind, Chief Edinger says he does believe the road diet will lead to a “friendlier” downtown.
City Engineer Travis Dillman stated he would meet with Chief Edinger and approach the North Dakota Department of Transportation with those concerns.
Dillman added that the bridge on 10th street has completed construction with the concrete being poured and set on the pedestrian barrier.
