Lisbon, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Lisbon Broncos (6-0) have taken control of Region 1A and their playoff destiny with a 32 to 6 win at home against the Thompson Tommies (4-2) Friday night.  But it wasn’t a picture perfect win for the Broncos.  The defenses for both teams controlled the game in the first half with Lisbon leading 8 to 6.  Broncos coach Joe Gerding made some adjustment at halftime and the Broncos dominated the second half out scoring Thompson 24 to 0.

Broncos RB Jordan Sours had a big night.  He finished the game with 194 yards rushing and a whopping 4 TD’s.  Meanwhile the Broncos defense shutdown another high powered offense this week limiting the Tommies to 6 points and 132 yards of total offense.

After the game coach Joe Gerding offered these comments:  Tonight was a tale of two halves.  In the first half we started slow.  Thompson came out swinging and caught us on our heels.  At half we made some adjustments.  Most importantly we stressed playing with confidence.  In the second half we came out flying.  The kids completely turned the game around.  Our D line applied a lot of pressure in the second half.  Overall, it was another great win.

Next up for the Broncos is the 0-7 Hatton-Northwood Thunder on Oct. 9th.
