VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is calls for service released by Valley City Fire Chief Scott Magnuson.
09/28/2020 at 07:57am. We got called for a report of a gas line that had been cut in the 700 block of 5th Ave NW . upon arrival there was a gas feeder line that had been cut by construction workers we blocked of the scene set up incident command and contacted MDU. We established fire protection for standby and informed residents to shelter in place. The MDU service person arrived and clamped the line, we cleared the scene and returned to the station there were no injuries, no damage was reported.
09/29/2020 at 13:42pm. We got called to a garbage truck that was on fire, in the 200 block of 5th Ave NE. The operators while doing there normal route noticed smoke coming from the back of the apparatus they quickly checked a called 911 then backed to the edge of the roadway and dumped what was in there container which had started on fire. The fire dept members extinguished the fire, cooled down the truck container, the other city crews came and cleaned up the refuse. The quick thinking by the operators helped keep the loss at a minimum. Minimum damage was reported.
